#LeakPeek: OnePlus 8 series to launch on April 15
OnePlus' latest flagship phones, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, could launch as early as next month. According to a couple of tip-offs, the handsets will go official on April 15, and they will be announced via an online-only event given concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the low-cost OnePlus 8 Lite is unlikely to launch alongside the flagship models. Here's more.
OnePlus 8 Lite might launch in July
According to WinFuture, the OnePlus 8 Lite will not launch alongside the flagship variants. The publication claims that the scaled-down model will see a delay of several months owning to production issues caused due to coronavirus outbreak. It may be launched sometime around July.
What we know about the OnePlus 8 series
According to earlier leaked renders, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will feature a punch-hole display with curved screen edges and a metal-glass body. On the rear, the Pro model will house a quad-lens camera while the standard OnePlus 8 will sport three lenses. The handsets will also feature 120Hz QHD AMOLED screens and headline a built-in MEMC chip for content upscaling.
Under the hood
The OnePlus 8 series will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset, combined with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. Both models will support the next-gen 5G network as well. Some previous leaks have also suggested that the Pro model will pack a 4,500mAh battery and support 50W wired fast charging as well as up to 30W wireless charging.
OnePlus 8 series to cost more than previous models
In comparison to the OnePlus 7T-series, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will cost a little bit more because of 5G support. Moreover, buyers in India might have to pay more, considering the GST rate on mobile phones has been hiked from 12% to 18%.
