OnePlus 8, 8 Pro to launch in mid-2020
After a sneak-peek at the early looks of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, and knowing how different they will be from the OnePlus 7 series, we now have an idea about their launch timeline. According to tipster Max J, OnePlus will announce its upcoming flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, sometime in the second quarter of 2020. Here's all about them.
OnePlus 8 series to arrive sometime around May-June
We know OnePlus follows a bi-annual launch cycle wherein it introduces regular flagship phones in the first half of the year and 'T' version of the phones in the second half. Hence, going by the tradition, we shall see the OnePlus 8 series sometime around May-June. To recall, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 went official in May this year.
Meanwhile, here's how the OnePlus 8 models will look like
As per renders, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will adopt a Galaxy S10-like punch-hole display with curved screen edges and a metal-glass body. On the rear, the handsets will feature a vertically-aligned camera setup, with the Pro model packing four sensors and the standard OnePlus 8 getting three lenses. Further, both the upcoming phones will offer 90Hz AMOLED screens with upto QHD resolution.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
While the camera specs remain a mystery for now, the quad-lens unit on the OnePlus 8 Pro is likely to include a standard sensor, a telephoto sensor, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and another ToF sensor. The standard variant will also get a similar setup but without the 3D camera. On the front, both phones will offer a single selfie snapper housed in the display cut-out.
What else to expect from OnePlus 8 series
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset, the expected successor to Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 Plus. As for memory and storage, we expect upto 12GB RAM and upto 256GB storage. Lastly, an improved in-screen fingerprint reader, louder stereo speakers, faster wired-charging (presumably 50W) and wireless charging are some of the features we could see on the upcoming flagships.
