#FlagshipWar: Can OnePlus 7 Pro beat the Samsung Galaxy S10+?
Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S10+, continues to be one of the best premium smartphones of 2019. However, OnePlus is primed to challenge the status quo with its most-expensive offering yet, the OnePlus 7 Pro. The premium phone looks to attract buyers with an all-screen design, a QHD+ display, triple-lens rear camera, and top-of-the-line internals. But can it beat the Galaxy S10+?
OnePlus 7 Pro v/s Galaxy S10+: At a glance
Contrary to the notch trend, the S10+ features a less obtrusive punch-hole design, curved display, and a premium IP68-rated glass body. On the other hand, OnePlus 7 Pro is set to offer an uninterrupted all-screen design achieved by adopting a pop-up selfie camera. Moreover, the phone will also feature a curved screen and all-glass body. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro for its notch-less, bezel-less design.
All about the screen
The Galaxy S10+ features a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with a Quad-HD+ (3040x1440 pixels) resolution. In comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro is tipped to sport a 6.67-inch Super Optic AMOLED display with Quad-HD+ resolution and a high refresh rate of 90Hz. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro as its higher refresh rate will offer smoother animations and better gaming experience.
For the shutterbugs
The S10+ sports a triple camera array featuring a 12MP (f/1.5-2.4) main sensor, 12MP (f/2.4) telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and 16MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide angle sensor. OnePlus 7 Pro's triple camera setup is said to feature a 48MP (f/1.6) primary sensor, a 16MP (f/2.2) wide-angle lens, and an 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. Winner: Tie, at least on paper.
For the selfie lovers
Talking of selfie cameras, the Galaxy S10+ has a dual-lens setup comprising a 10MP (f/1.9) main sensor and 8MP (f/2.2) depth sensor with dual Pixel autofocus. In contrast, OnePlus 7 Pro's motorized pop-up up camera module is tipped to house a 16MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper.
Under the hood
The Galaxy S10+ is powered by a Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820 processor, paired with upto 12GB of RAM and upto 1TB of built-in storage (expandable by upto 512GB). OnePlus 7 Pro will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, upto 12GB of RAM and upto 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. Winner: Tie. While the OnePlus challenger trails on the storage front, it will offer faster read/write speeds.
Battery and biometric authentication
The Galaxy S10+ packs a 4,100mAh battery with support for 15W fast-charging and two-way wireless charging. In comparison, OnePlus 7 Pro will offer a 4,000mAh battery with 30W Speed Warp fast-charging support. Further, while both phones offer an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the S10+ has an ultrasonic scanner and OnePlus 7 Pro will offer an optical reader and a slower face unlock. Winner: Galaxy S10+.
Pricing: The key factor
The Samsung Galaxy S10+ costs Rs. 73,900 for the 8GB/128GB variant, Rs. 91,900 for the 8GB/512GB model, and Rs. 1,17,900 for the top-end 12GB/1TB variant. In comparison, OnePlus 7 Pro is tipped to cost Rs. 49,999 for the base-end 6GB/128GB storage model. Further, the mid-end 8GB/256GB variant and the top-end 12GB/256GB model are tipped to arrive at Rs. 52,999 and Rs. 57,999, respectively.
How things stack up?
Going by the leaked features and specifications, the OnePlus 7 Pro will undoubtedly be a top performer. However, much of its success will depend on how its camera performs against the likes of S10 series and Google Pixel 3. Also, buyers who need the ease of wireless charging and the security of water-resistance will gravitate towards the "complete flagships".
