Discounted OnePlus 6T or OnePlus 7: Which one to buy
As the successor to OnePlus 6T, OnePlus is set to launch the OnePlus 7 on May 14. So far, several leaks have confirmed that the upcoming flagship will retain the design of its popular predecessor while getting some incremental updates. But for all that, should you wait for OnePlus 7 or buy the best-selling OnePlus 6T at its lowest price ever? Let's find out.
OnePlus 7 v/s OnePlus 6T: At a glance
As per renders, OnePlus 7 will be almost indistinguishable from OnePlus 6T with a waterdrop-notched display, curved glass back, dual-lens rear camera, and in-screen fingerprint sensor. However, OnePlus 7 might get dual speakers and a larger LED flash on the rear. Further, the phone is tipped to feature a 6.4-inch flat AMOLED display with full-HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) resolution - same as the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus 7 to get a 48MP dual-lens rear camera
As per a leak, OnePlus 7 will sport a dual-lens rear camera comprising a 48MP (f/1.7) primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. In comparison, OnePlus 6T offers a similar setup with a 16MP (f/1.7) main sensor and a 20MP (f/1.7) secondary sensor. And while we are yet to test OnePlus 7's camera performance, we know OnePlus 6T is no slouch in this department.
OnePlus 7 likely to offer a 16MP selfie snapper
The OnePlus 7 Pro is said to sport a 16MP pop-up selfie camera and we presume that the same sensor will be offered on the standard OnePlus 7 but nestled in a display cut-out. Interestingly, OnePlus 6T also comes with a 16MP front camera.
All the important stuff: Processor, memory, and storage
The OnePlus 7 will be powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset - an upgrade over its predecessor's Snapdragon 845 processor. Further, like the OnePlus 6T, the upcoming phone will reportedly offer 6GB/8GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB of internal storage, and a 3,700mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. Lastly, OnePlus 7 will still miss on features like wireless charging and certified waterproofing.
Pricing of OnePlus 7
While we still don't have OnePlus 7's official pricing, we expect the phone to arrive at a starting price of Rs. 38,000. Notably, this is the same price at which OnePlus 6T was launched in India around six months back. However, as the stage is ready for the new phone, OnePlus 6T has received a price cut of up to Rs. 4,000.
OnePlus 6T now available at Rs. 34,999
With the recent price cut, the OnePlus 6T base-end 6GB/128GB model now starts at Rs. 34,999, the mid-end 8GB/128GB variant at Rs. 37,999, and the top-end 8GB/256GB model at Rs. 41,999. Moreover, under the upcoming Amazon Summer Sale, you could buy the phone at its lowest price ever along with an additional discount on SBI cards to further bring down the effective cost.
Buy OnePlus 6T or wait for OnePlus 7
Going by the comparison, OnePlus 7 will retain OnePlus 6T's design while getting an updated camera and chipset. However, is it worthy to buy at full price? I guess not. The OnePlus 6T still continues to be a premium phone with good cameras, an extremely capable processor, smooth UI, and impressive battery life. Moreover, you will also save Rs. 4,000 of your hard-earned money.
