OnePlus 6T users encounter a weird display issue: Details here
A month ago, OnePlus unveiled its mid-year flagship refresh, the OnePlus 6T, with an improved in-display fingerprint scanner and Android Pie. The phone started off really well, but now, some of its users are reporting a weird bug, one that affects its AMOLED display. It produces a static wave of pixels, which no one has been able to resolve. Here's more on the glitch.
So, what's happening here?
As many users reported on the OnePlus forum, a bright wave of brightly colored pixels moves across the screen and vanishes immediately. It shows up at random on any screen (most users said it shows after unlocking) and appears to spread from bottom to top. Even the color of this pixel-wave varies with some users witnessing a green/red tinge, while other seeing purple/pink.
Performance isn't affected
The bug is pretty annoying but it doesn't affect the performance of the device in any way. Plus, it has been witnessed on both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants of the device.
However, the exact cause remains unknown
The exact trigger behind this weird wave of rogue pixels is still unclear. If this is a software glitch like the OnePlus 6 screen flickering bug, the company would patch it with an update. However, in the case of a hardware problem, users would have to visit an authorized service center for repairs. Notably, OnePlus has not yet commented on the matter.
Plus, there's no sure fix
As the issue is random and has only been witnessed by some users, there's no definite way to fix it. In the forum, one user said that factory resetting the device didn't help, while another stated that a software update (vA6013_41_181103) from the company fixed it. You could try doing that, but the claim is unverified and there's no guarantee that it helps.
