OnePlus 6T retail-box leaks design; launch expected on January 15
OnePlus may continue with its launch policy of 'T' variants and unveil the successor to OnePlus 6 soon. The company recently posted a teaser which suggests the OnePlus 6T would be launched on January 15, 2019. Notably, an alleged OnePlus 6T retail box has also leaked, giving away the key design features of the upcoming smartphone. Here's everything we know about the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus cryptic teaser suggests a January 15 launch
The company posted an image of a calendar on a OnePlus 6 with reminder date set to January 15. While the cryptic post doesn't specify a smartphone launch, it does confirm the company has planned something. Moreover, given the leaks and reports of a OnePlus 6T being in the works, it is a safe guess that the phone will land early next year.
OnePlus 6T will be inspired by the OPPO R17
Images of a purported OnePlus 6T retail box has been spotted on Chinese micro-blogging website, Weibo. The retail box reads "Unlock the speed" on one of the sides. Further, the inside of the box shows a smartphone glyph with a waterdrop notched display and an in-display fingerprint sensor. This suggests the OnePlus 6T will be inspired by the OPPO R17/OPPO R17 Pro.
OnePlus 6T may get a triple rear camera setup
Much like the design, OnePlus 6T may also inherit OPPO R17 Pro's triple rear camera module. It may sport a triple camera module with the primary sensor having a dual variable aperture of f/1.5-f/2.4, like Galaxy S9/S9+/Note 9. The second sensor may be used for depth effect while the third sensor could be a 3D camera to enable AR functionality.
Under the hood
In terms of internals, the OnePlus 6 already packs top-notch specs. However, given the next iteration of Qualcomm Snapgradon 845, the Snapdragon 855 processor entered mass-production back in June, we expect OnePlus 6T to run the new chipset. Other expected specs and features include up to 8GB RAM, up to 512GB inbuilt storage, a bigger battery, wireless charging, IP certification and in-display fingerprint sensor.
OnePlus 6T is expected to start at $550
According to reports, the price of OnePlus 6T is tentatively set at $550 (approximately Rs. 36,000), a minor increase from OnePlus 6's starting price of $529. That said, $550 mark is still not finalized. However, if OnePlus 6T is likely to get a new design, upgraded camera and under the hood updates, we can expect the price to come close to $600.
