OnePlus 6 will be a big upgrade over 5T
Even before its release, OnePlus 6 has already attracted many admirers. Its launch event could be as spectacular as an iPhone launch. Thanks to leaks and official teasers by OnePlus, it's now becoming increasingly apparent that the OnePlus 6 will be a big upgrade over its predecessor, the OnePlus 5T. What's more? There's an Avengers: Infinity War edition too. Here's what we know so far.
OnePlus 6 launch and sale details
The OnePlus 6 will see its global launch on May 16 in London. In India, the smartphone will be launched on May 17, with the first sale taking place on May 21, through Amazon India. Interestingly, only Amazon Prime subscribers are eligible for the sale.
The OnePlus 6 will have a 6.28-inch edge-to-edge display
The OnePlus 5T was the first OnePlus device to adopt the popular edge-to-edge screen. The OnePlus 6 will follow in its footsteps, but is expected to come with a larger 6.28-inch QHD+ display, with a notch on the top - a design popularized by the iPhone X. However, the OnePlus 6 will retain a little bit of bezel on the bottom to fit components.
While much isn't known, expect a big camera upgrade
The OnePlus 5T, which could compete with the Samsung Galaxy S9 on various fronts, had lagged behind in the camera department. The OnePlus 6's camera, according to sample photos shared by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, will be a big improvement over the OnePlus 5T. It will have a high quality dual camera, but the specifications of the same remain unknown.
Estimated prices of the OnePlus 6
While prices for India are not known yet, prices for Chinese markets somewhat indicate OnePlus 6's price. After converting to Indian rupees, the three OnePlus 6 variants will reportedly be available in China for Rs. 34,700 (64GB), Rs. 40,000 (128GB), and Rs. 46,300 (256GB).
The OnePlus 6 packs a mean punch under the hood
The OnePlus 6 has adhered to OnePlus's USP of top-of-the-line specs at affordable price. The phone is going to be powered by Qualcomm's most powerful Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB RAM and a 3,450mAh battery. Reportedly it'll also have a 256GB storage variant, and will come run on Android Oreo 8.1-based custom Oxygen OS.
