OnePlus 6 gets Android Pie update: Here's how to install
Finally, Android 9 Pie is now available for OnePlus 6. Based on the Google's latest mobile OS Android 9 Pie, OnePlus has released the first OxygenOS Open Beta for its 2018 flagship smartphone. The update brings Android Pie interface and features, along with a new 'Do Not Disturb' mode and 'Gaming Mode 3.0'. Here's how to download and install Android Pie on OnePlus 6.
Firstly, about the OxygenOS Open Beta update
As per the changelog, the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 introduces Android 9.0 Pie user-interface, gesture controls, and other system improvements. This update also brings several OnePlus tweaks such as support for accent color customization and a new 'Do Not Disturb' mode with adjustable settings. Further, there's a new Gaming Mode 3.0 with added text notification mode and added notification for 3rd party calls.
Here's how to download and install the new update
Firstly, download the latest ROM file from OnePlus's server and copy it to your phone storage. Now go to Settings -> System updates and then tap on the gear icon on top-right corner to see "Local Upgrade" option. Tap on that option and select the installation package. Then select "Immediately upgrade" and then tap on "System upgrade to 100%". Now simply reboot your device.
Please note: OxygenOS Open Beta 1 has some known problems
As a beta built, the update is bound to be buggy and may cause crashes. And while not all issues have been identified, OnePlus has listed a few known issues. Firstly, some applications "may not function as expected when running on this beta version." Secondly, Google Pay service is not working and the Play Store might show "Device is not Certified by Google" message.
