Samsung's new update brings AI features to S24 series
Samsung has initiated the global rollout of its One UI 6.1.1 update in the US, Europe, and India for Galaxy S24 models. The announcement was made during Samsung's IFA 2024 press conference, where specific devices eligible for this update were identified. Initially, the distribution was restricted but has now expanded to include more regions within just a few days.
Update size and security patch details
The One UI 6.1.1 update, as reported by users on Reddit, bears the size of approximately 3GB. Interestingly, it includes the security patch from August 2024 instead of the latest September one. This detail was confirmed through screenshots shared by users who have already received the update on their devices.
New AI features and enhancements
The One UI 6.1.1 update is not just about security patches, it also introduces several new features and improvements to enhance user experience. These include a "Listening Mode" in Interpreter, a "Composer" for Chat Assist, and "Suggested Replies." These AI-driven features were previously exclusive to the Galaxy Z Flip6 but are now being extended to other devices like the Galaxy S24 series.
Samsung Notes and Note Assist receive upgrades
The update also brings a new feature to Samsung Notes called "PDF Overlay Translation" and improvements to Note Assist. Additionally, a creative tool named "Sketch to Image" has been introduced that adds extra content to an existing image, based on a rough sketch or drawing, similar to the Pixel's "Reimagine" function. These enhancements aim to provide users with more versatility in their device usage.
One UI 6.1.1 update: List of compatible devices
Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 6.1.1 update will be available for a range of devices including the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold5 among others. Users in the regions where the update is being rolled out can check for it by navigating to Settings > Software > System updates on their device.
Additional features of the update
The One UI 6.1.1 update also includes a "Circle-to-Search" feature that allows users to gather information by circling anything on their current screen. It introduces a sound search feature for solving complex math problems, and a "Portrait Studio" for creating portraits in various styles like watercolor and 3D cartoons. A "Slow-Mo" feature is also part of this update, which slows down video speed without compromising image quality.
