Ola's Krutrim to launch 'India's first AI chip' by 2026
Krutrim, the artificial intelligence (AI) division of Ola, has announced its ambitious plan to manufacture a series of chips named Bodhi for AI, Sarv for General Compute, and Ojas for Edge. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led company aims to design and manufacture India's first AI silicon chip by 2026. These chips will be specifically engineered for complex AI workloads, aiming to facilitate the creation of faster and more efficient AI systems in India.
Krutrim's future plans and strategic partnerships
Krutrim has also revealed plans for the launch of Bodhi 2 model by 2028, which it anticipates will surpass current industry standards in AI training, inferencing, and fine-tuning. The company has partnered with Arm and Untether AI to strengthen its position in silicon technology. Aggarwal, speaking at Ola Sankalp 2024 event today, said that these are part of the company's efforts toward making India technologically independent.
Krutrim Cloud to expand services and increase data center capacity
In line with its expansion strategy, Krutrim Cloud will broaden its services to include infrastructure domains, developer platforms, data platforms, AI models, AI platforms, and AI applications. The company has introduced over 50 new services on the Krutrim Cloud. To support these initiatives, Krutrim plans to increase its data center capacity to an impressive 1GW by 2028.
Krutrim announces free cloud services and start-up support program
Krutrim has also introduced free cloud services worth ₹100 crore for developers until Diwali, and free access to cloud services for users of the ONDC platform for one full year. The company also launched an 'Udaan' program to support start-ups with innovative ideas. The initiative provides ₹50 lakh for the first batch of start-ups in partnership with investors Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners India), DeVC, and South Park Commons.
Krutrim Cloud's new services and user engagement
Among the newly introduced services on Krutrim Cloud are Bhashik, a language hub with multimodal translation capabilities across text, voice, and video. Another service is Customer Experience AI, which features multimodal AI agents for enterprises operating across mobile apps. Since its launch in early 2024, over 25,000 developers have used Krutrim Cloud and made 250 billion API calls across products, per the company.
