NVIDIA has announced a $100 AI computer for beginners
Today, artificial intelligence, aka AI, is making an impact in all fields, be it gaming, photography, or language processing. Powerful neural engines learn from vast datasets and apply that information to deliver unimaginable results. And now, in a major development, NVIDIA has introduced a way - a tool - to use the power of AI in the real world. Here's everything about it.
Jetson Nano computer board for your creations
At GTC 2019, NVIDIA announced Jetson Nano, a $99 embedded computer board, to serve as the brain of the robot, smart speaker, any other device you might be building at home. The affordable computer system, as The Verge reports, will be able to make machines capable enough to handle things like image recognition and autonomous navigation with super-high speed and precision.
Jetson Nano for embedded engineers, developers
Though there are other computer boards in the Jetson lineup, NVIDIA is targeting Nano as an entry-level AI solution for "developers, makers, and enthusiasts." The kit is rated to deliver 472 gigaflops of processing, thanks to a 128-core Maxwell GPU, quad-core ARM A57 processor, and 4GB of LPDDR RAM. And, it consumes just 5W of juice, which makes the whole package even more tempting.
Several AI frameworks supported
Along with immense power and an affordable price tag, Jetson Nano also offers support for several popular AI frameworks. This means from TensorFlow and PyTorch to Caffe and Keras, most frameworks would be supported by the kit. Notably, you also get USB-A, USB-B, gigabit Ethernet, and microSD card connectivity for all the attachments you might need for your project.
Other options for developers, innovators
At $99, Jetson Nano is definitely an excellent choice for all the developers and inventors who want an ideal source of power for the automated machine. However, it's important to note that NVIDIA isn't the only player in this category. Intel, as The Verge says, sells a pretty similar Neural Compute Stick for $79, while Google also offers a devkit for $150.
