Is Nubia Red Magic Mars the most powerful gaming smartphone
Pushing further into the gaming-centric smartphone market, ZTE-owned Nubia has launched the successor to Red Magic handset in China. Titled Red Magic Mars, the flagship phone comes with a 6.0-inch full-HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, upto 10GB RAM, and a dedicated ICE cooling system. In China, the phone starts at around Rs. 27,400. Here's our roundup.
Nubia Red Magic Mars: For serious gamers only
First up, the phone gets an ICE dual heat pipe and convection cooling system that is touted to reduce temperature by upto 13.2-degree and improve CPU performance by upto 70%. Then there are touch-sensitive shoulder buttons on the side of the handset, a dedicated motor for haptic feedback, stereo speakers with Dolby DTS 7.1 surround sound and RGB LED strip on the rear panel.

The phone sports a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) display, a single 16MP (f/1.8) rear camera, an 8MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper. Under the hood, there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, upto 10GB RAM and upto 256GB storage. Further, Red Magic Mars runs Android Pie-based Red Magic OS 1.6 and packs a 3,800mAh battery.
Connectivity options and sensors onboard the phone
In terms of connectivity options, the Nubia Red Magic Mars comes with support for single SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack with inbuilt DAC. As far as sensors onboard the phone are concerned, there is an ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor among other essential gadgetry. Further, the phone also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Pricing and availability
The Nubia Red Magic Mars costs CNY 2,699 (approx. Rs. 27,400) for the base-end 6GB/64GB variant, CNY 3,199 (approx. Rs. 32,500) for the mid-end 8GB/128GB option, and CNY 3,999 (approx. Rs. 40,600) for the top-end 10GB/256GB model. The smartphone comes in Black, Camouflage, and Flame Red color options and will go on sale (pre-orders currently live) in China starting December 7 via JD.com.
