Nubia launches its gaming phone, Red Magic 3S
ZTE's sub-brand Nubia has launched the Red Magic 3S gaming smartphone in China. The handset arrives as the upgraded version of Red Magic 3 with Snapdragon 855 Plus processor that offers improved graphics. Meanwhile, the phone will go on sale in China from September 9 and it will be available for purchase in global markets from next month. Here's our roundup.
Nubia Red Magic 3S: At a glance
The Red Magic 3S sports a conventional rectangular display with noticeable top and bottom bezels. On the rear, the handset sports a single camera, a physical fingerprint scanner, and customizable RGB LED strip. There is also a built-in cooling fan as well as touch-sensitive shoulder triggers for enhanced gaming experience. Furthermore, it sports a 6.65-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the Nubia Red Magic 3S sports a single 48MP (f/1.7) Sony IMX586 rear sensor. The camera offers photography features like HDR, panorama, night mode, and supports 8K video recording. Up front, there is a 16MP (f/2.0) shooter for selfies and video calling.

The Red Magic 3S draws power from top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 Plus processor and Adreno 640 GPU. As for memory options, the handset gets up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Under the hood, it runs Android Pie-based RedMagic 2.0 OS and is backed by a solid 5,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ (27W) fast-charging technology.
Connectivity and media options
In the connectivity department, the Red Magic 3S comes with support for dual-SIMs (Nano), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Further, the smartphone houses dual stereo speakers with DTS: X, and 3D sound technologies for immersive audio experience.
Pricing and availability
As for the pocket pinch, the Nubia Red Magic 3S starts at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs. 30,000) for the 8GB/128GB model and CNY 3,799 (approximately Rs. 38,000) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The smartphone will go on sale in China starting from September 9, and will be available in global markets soon.
