Meet Nubia Alpha: World's first wearable smartphone
At the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2019, ZTE-owned Nubia has launched, what could be, the world's first wearable phone. Thanks to its 4-inch flexible OLED display, the Nubia Alpha looks like a phone that can be wrapped around the wrist to track fitness, click photos, make calls and even send messages. However, internally, this one-of-a-kind wearable is pretty much a smartwatch. Here's our roundup.
Nubia Alpha: At a glance
Nubia Alpha sports a flexible OLED display that allows the device to boast of a wearable form factor while the 4-inch size (960x192 pixels resolution), makes it one of the largest displays ever on a smartwatch. The wearable also has stainless steel bands, water-resistant built quality, a 5MP camera, and all the usual sensors you'd find on a smartwatch including the heart rate sensor.
Under the hood
The Nubia Alpha is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Under the hood, the device also packs a 500mAh battery that offers battery life of up to two days. Further, it comes with an eSIM with 4G LTE support, built-in speaker and microphone, as well as a virtual T9 keyboard for typing.
Nubia Alpha: A smartwatch cum smartphone
Thanks to the embedded SIM and 4G connectivity, the Nubia Alpha offers several functions of a standard smartphone such as calling and texting. The device also functions as a fitness tracker, allowing you to monitor heart rate and track calories among other health parameters. Moreover, Alpha runs a custom OS with support for air gestures that let you navigate by waving fingers over it.
