Here's how to use Facebook mobile recharge service in India
Following backlash over the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook revamped its Settings menu, giving more control to users over their data. Along with those changes, the new Facebook for Android app (version 167.0.0.42.94) has also introduced a mobile (prepaid) recharge feature. Currently, the social media giant is testing this option in India. Here's how you can use this new Facebook mobile recharge option.
Here's how to top up your prepaid mobile using Facebook
The new 'Mobile Recharge' option can be found inside the 'Profile and Settings' tab located on the right side. Upon selecting the option, you will be required to enter a prepaid mobile number you want to top-up. The service provider associated with the number will be automatically selected. Users who have ported their numbers will have to manually select the operator from the drop-down list.
Select your plan, review order and pay
After selecting your operator, enter the recharge amount. You can also view plans for the selected telecom operator by tapping on 'Browse Plans' option. Now, tap on 'Review Order' to proceed and make payment. Currently, Facebook accepts only credit and debit cards to make the payments. Once your payment gets approved, the recharge will be successful on the number.
Facebook may venture into the digital payments space in India
This feature could be a part of Facebook's attempt to tap into the digital payments space in India. Notably, its messaging service WhatsApp is already testing UPI-based payments services in India. However, the feature has been made available to only a few users.
