#SmartphonesFaceoff: Note 9 v/s OPPO Find X v/s P20 Pro
Samsung recently launched its most advanced smartphone till date - the Galaxy Note 9. And while the phone is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, does it have enough to beat the competition? In this face-off, we find out how Note 9 stands against the design marvel OPPO Find X and the camera beast Huawei P20 Pro. Here's our comparison.
Price Factor
The Note 9 is available in India for Rs. 67,900 (6GB RAM/128GB storage variant) while the 8GB RAM/512GB storage variant costs Rs. 84,900. In comparison, the Huawei P20 Pro costs Rs. 64,999 while the OPPO Find X is priced at Rs. 59,990.
At a glance
In terms of design, Note 9 retains the design seen on the Note 8 while the Huawei P20 Pro embraces the in-trend notch but retains the rarity of a front-mounted fingerprint sensor. And blowing the two out of the water is OPPO Find X that features an all-screen design with motorized cameras, showcasing the future of smartphone design and innovation. OPPO is a winner here.
All about the screen
The Note 9 offers a 6.4-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. OPPO Find X sports a 6.42-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio while the P20 Pro features a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Clearly, with a higher resolution, Note 9 will offer better sharpness than the full-HD+ resolution of the competitors.
For the shutterbugs
Note 9 sports a 12MP sensor with variable aperture (f/1.5-f/2.4), and a 12MP (f/2.4) sensor with 2x optical zoom. The P20 Pro has a triple rear-camera setup comprising of 40MP+20MP+8MP sensors with 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. Find X gets a 16MP (f/2.0) primary sensor and a 20MP (f/2.2) secondary sensor. Winner: P20 Pro for its advanced optics and better low-light photography.
For the love of Selfies
Up front, the Galaxy Note 9 sports an 8-megapixel selfie snapper with f/1.7 aperture. The Huawei P20 Pro gets a 24MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture while the OPPO Find X bears a 25-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. While Samsung offers a better sensor with wider f/1.7 aperture, the OPPO Find X has overall better optics.
All the important stuff
The Note 9 gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 process/Exynos 9810 chipset, paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/512GB storage (expandable up to 1TB). The P20 Pro is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage (non-expandable). Lastly, the Find X gets a Snapdragon 845processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (non-expandable). Winner: Note 9 for massive storage capabilities.
Lifeblood of your smartphone
In terms of sensors, all the three phones get a standard array of sensors including an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and gyroscope among others. However, the OPPO Find X comes with a 3D facial scanning based unlock system while the other two sport fingerprint sensors. In terms of software, all three of them run a forked version of Android Oreo. You be the judge here.
Staying connected
Both the Note 9 and P20 Pro pack 4,000mAh batteries while the Find X gets a slightly smaller 3,730mAh battery with fast-charging available on all three. In terms of connectivity, you have all the standard ports and connectivity features as one would expect from high-end flagships. That said, the Note 9 has two advantages - a new powerful S Pen and inbuilt DeX system.
How things stack up!
While the OPPO Find X has an innovative design and flagship specs and Huawei P20 Pro has one of the best smartphone cameras, the Galaxy Note 9 is still one of the best in the business. It has got a superb display, top-end processor, massive storage, pretty cameras and the S Pen is a great bonus. Our winner: The Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
