Nokia 9 PureView v/s OnePlus 7 Pro: Which is better?
As its most advanced smartphone till date, and naturally, its most-expensive offering, HMD Global has launched the Nokia 9 PureView in India. The phone takes on the likes of OnePlus 7 Pro as it justifies the Rs. 50,000 price tag with a QHD+ display, premium glass body, top-tier internals, and a novel penta-lens rear camera. But which one is better? Here's our head-to-head comparison.
Nokia 9 PureView v/s OnePlus 7 Pro: At a glance
The Nokia 9 PureView sports a traditional display with sizeable top and bottom bezels and a curved glass body which is IP67 rated against dust and water damage. The OnePlus 7 Pro, on the other hand, has an all-screen design with curved edges, a premium looking metal-glass sandwiched body, and a built-in 10-layer liquid cooling system. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro for its modern design.
All about the screen
As expected from any premium flagship, the Nokia 9 PureView offers a high-quality display. The handset has a 5.99-inch p-OLED panel with QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) resolution, HDR10 support, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. In comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro sports an HDR10+ compatible 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a QHD+ (3120x1,440 pixels) resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro.
For the shutterbugs
Nokia 9 PureView sports a penta-lens rear camera setup which comprises three 12MP (f/1.8) monochrome and two 12MP (f/1.8) RGB sensors. On the OnePlus 7 Pro, there's a multi-autofocus triple-lens rear camera which features a 48MP (f/1.7, OIS) main lens, an 8MP (f/2.4, OIS) telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 16MP (f/2.2) wide-angle lens. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro for overall better cameras.
For the love of selfies
In today's times, a quality selfie camera is as important as any other feature on the phone. On this front, the Nokia 9 PureView impresses with its 20MP front-facing camera to beat OnePlus 7 Pro's 16MP motorized pop-up selfie snapper.
All the important stuff
The Nokia 9 PureView is backed by last year's flagship chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, upto 12GB RAM and upto 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Winner: The OnePlus flagship for its industry-leading storage format and latest mobile processor.
Battery to biometrics
The Nokia 9 PureView packs a 3,320mAh battery with support for 10W wireless charging and 18W wired charging. In comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro houses a 4,000mAh battery which supports 30W wired charging. Further, both flagships come with an optical in-display fingerprint reader but OnePlus's larger and improved sensor offers faster unlocking experience. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro.
Pricing: The key factor
The Nokia 9 PureView is priced at Rs. 49,999 for the solo 6GB/128GB storage variant whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at Rs. 48,999 for the 6GB/128GB model and goes upto Rs. 57,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant.
How things stack up!
The Nokia 9 PureView is surely a premium performer with good cameras. But given the outdated design and last-generation chipset, it feels a bit too overpriced. However, at around Rs. 50,000, the OnePlus 7 Pro seems unbeatable. It offers a brilliant screen, the cameras are respectable, performance is top-notch, and the software is clean and smooth. Winner: OnePlus 7 Pro.
