Nokia 8: Indian launch date, specifications, price, new variant
HMD Global, which owns the Nokia brand, will be launching Nokia 8 on September 26 in India. It has sent out media invites touting it as the "unveiling of the next milestone of Nokia Phones." It'll be the first flagship product from Nokia that runs on Android. Also, there are rumors that HMD will soon launch an improved variant of the phone. Here's more.
A new variant
HMD Global announced Nokia 8 in August and it's supposed to have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. Now, TheAndroidSoul, citing a Winfuture report, has said that the firm will also bring an upgraded variant of Nokia 8 in the market. This variant will have 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory and HMD Global will kick-start its sale from October 20 in Germany.
What's under the hood?
The new variant will differ from the standard model only in terms of storage and RAM. There won't be any other changes. Nokia 8 comes with 5.3 inches IPS QHD (Corning Gorilla Glass 5) 1440 x 2560 pixels display and features a unibody design. It houses a Snapdragon 835 SoC processor and is powered by a 3090mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
What about the camera?
In Nokia 8, the user will get a 13MP dual-lens rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 13MP selfie camera. The device will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. However, HMD Global has promised that all Nokia smartphones will get Android Oreo. Therefore, users will get to enjoy the latest Android on this device as soon as HMD Global seeds the update.
The estimated pocket pinch
The phone comes in four color variants - Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue, and Steel. However, all the color options may not be available in India. This dual-SIM device will support VoLTE and have a fingerprint sensor. It has an IP54 rating, which means the phone will be splash proof. The estimated price of the device is Rs. 46,000 (approximately).
