Android One-based Nokia 7.1 launched: Specs, price, features
As a successor to last year's Nokia 7, HMD Global has globally launched the Nokia 7.1 at an event in London. The key highlights of the phone are its full-HD+ HDR display, a dual-rear camera setup with ZEISS optics, mid-level internals, and Android One support. Notably, the India availability and pricing of Nokia 7.1 is expected to be announced on October 11. Here's more.
Nokia 7.1: At a glance
Up front, the Nokia 7.1 is reminiscent of the Nokia 6.1 Plus with a notched display and a beefier bottom bezel. The phone is built using 6000 series aluminum with a glass back that houses a dual rear-camera and fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 7.1 features a 5.84-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The phone sports a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 12-MP (f/1.8) primary sensor with autofocus, paired with a 5-MP (f/2.4) secondary sensor with fixed focus. The primary camera is powered by ZEISS Optics and offers autofocus via two-phase detection technology. Up front, there's an 8-megapixel (f/2.0) fixed focus sensor with 84-degree field-of-view.
Connectivity options and sensors onboard Nokia 7.1
In terms of connectivity options, the Nokia 7.1 gets support for dual-SIM (Nano) cards, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, electronic compass, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood
The Nokia 7.1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 400GB). The phone runs stock Android Oreo 8.1 (Android Pie update to release next month) and packs a 3,060mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Nokia 7.1 also boasts of a 16-bit engine that converts SDR content into HDR in real-time.
Nokia 7.1: Global prices and availability
Nokia 7.1, available in Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel colors, starts at EUR 299 (approx. Rs. 24,400) and goes up to EUR 349 (around Rs. 29,500), depending on the country/region. Notably, the phone will available across global markets starting October itself.
Alongside, the company has also launched new Bluetooth headphones
Alongside the Nokia 7.1, the company has unveiled two new Bluetooth headphones. Firstly, it is the splash resistant, ultra-lightweight Nokia True Wireless Earbuds that weigh only 5 grams per earbud, offer up to 3.5 hours of stereo music playback and come with a chargeable carry-case. The second one is neckband-styled Nokia Pro Wireless Earphones that offer up to 10 hours of playback time.
