HMD Global releases Android Pie update for Nokia 6.1 Plus
HMD Global has started rolling out the latest Android 9 Pie update for its recently launched Nokia 6.1 Plus. The update, with a file size of about 1.3GB, will be rolled out in a phased manner. Notably, this is the third Nokia phone to receive Android Pie update after Nokia 7.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1. Here's everything to know about the update.

What's new in the update?
With the latest update, the Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a new gesture-based system navigation, an updated Settings menu, and a revamped notifications panel. The Android Pie update also brings several other new features such as Adaptive Battery, adaptive and optimized brightness levels, predictive application actions, Google Lens integration, and the Google security patch for the month of October.

Given Nokia 6.1 Plus is a rebranded version of Nokia X6, it retains the same specifications and design. The phone features a notch-based display, a prominent chin and a vertically positioned dual rear camera setup - a design seen on the Nokia X6. Further, there's a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Camera: For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a dual rear camera setup comprising a 16MP (f/2.0) primary sensor with 1-micron pixels, and a secondary 5MP monochrome sensor with 1.12-micron pixels. Up front, the smartphone gets a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. Moreover, the Nokia 6.1 Plus runs stock Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box (now upgradeable to Android Pie), supports dual-SIM (Nano) cards and packs a 3,060mAh battery with support for fast charging.

Connectivity options on Nokia 6.1 Plus include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. Sensors onboard the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
