HMD Global releases Android Pie update for Nokia 6.1 Plus
Days after rolling out Android Pie stable update for Nokia 7.1 Plus, HMD Global has now released the beta version of the update for its recently launched Nokia 6.1 Plus. So, what's new in this beta update?
With this beta update, HMD Global brings all the new Android Pie features such as App Actions, Slices, Adaptive Battery, and Adaptive Brightness. Also, alongside the new gesture-based navigation, the update also brings a dedicated dark mode. Notably, HMD Global will bring Android's new Digital Wellbeing features such as Dashboard, App Timers, and Wind Down to Nokia 6.1 Plus later this year.

Given Nokia 6.1 Plus is a rebranded version of Nokia X6, it retains the same specifications and design. The phone features a notch-based display, a prominent chin and a vertically positioned dual rear camera setup - a design seen on the Nokia X6. Further, there's a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Nokia 6.1 Plus: Camera specs
The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a dual rear camera setup comprising a 16MP (f/2.0) primary sensor with 1-micron pixels, and a secondary 5MP monochrome sensor with 1.12-micron pixels. Up front, the smartphone gets a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. The Nokia 6.1 Plus runs stock Android Oreo 8.1 as part of Android One program. Under the hood, the phone packs a 3,060mAh battery with support for fast charging and supports dual-SIM (Nano) cards.

Connectivity options on Nokia 6.1 Plus include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. Sensors onboard the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
