Though late, HMD Global-owned Nokia brand seems to have gotten on to the notch bandwagon. Weeks after unveiling Nokia X6, the company is now working to launch another notch-based smartphone - the Nokia 5.1 Plus. A poster leak, which suggests the phone will be unveiled on July 11 in China, also reveals the pricing of the upcoming Nokia smartphone. Here's our roundup.
Nokia 5.1 Plus : At a glance
The Nokia 5.1 Plus' leaked poster reiterates the design language earlier seen in the leaked schematics. The phone will feature a notch-based display, a rear dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner placed under the camera module - just like Nokia X6. The mid-range Nokia 5.1 Plus is expected to get a 5.86-inch HD+ (720x1520 pixels) TFT display with a 19:9 aspect ratio.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The upcoming Nokia phone will sport rear dual camera setup comprising a primary 13-megapixel sensor. Details of the secondary sensor are not known as of now. On the front, the phone is expected to feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Under the hood
According to previous leaks, Nokia 5.1 Plus will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series processor or possibly an octa-core MediaTek P series chipset. The phone is likely to come in 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM options paired with 32GB/64GB of internal storage. Notably, Nokia 5.1 Plus will run Android Oreo 8.1 and pack 3,000mAh battery under the hood.
The nitty-gritty: Connectivity options and on sensors
In terms of connectivity options, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, and USB which are all standard options. Sensors on board the phone include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The teaser also hints at two more Nokia smartphones
The leak suggests that Nokia is working on two more higher-spec phones. One of the phones, codenamed 'Phoenix' is expected to get a Snapdragon 710 processor along with an 18:9 display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and ZEISS optics. The other phone, expectedly Nokia A1 Plus, will get the Snapdragon 845 processor. This will be a flagship phone and may feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Nokia 5.1 Plus will start at CNY 799
According to the leaked poster, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is likely to come at a starting price of CNY 799 (approx. Rs. 8,200) for the 32GB variant, while the 64GB variant is expected to be priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,300).
