WhatsApp gets granular storage control to free space

WhatsApp is now getting granular storage control to help you save storage space on your phone.
The option was rolled out for iOS phones earlier this year. For Android, it is available on beta v2.17.340.

Steps
How can you use the new feature?
To save storage on your phone, you can go to Settings > Storage Usage on WhatsApp beta for Android.
You can choose which message type you want to delete from specific chats - photos, videos, text, GIFs, voice messages and more.
After you select the chat, you will get the option to 'Manage messages'. Click on it, then select whatever you wish to remove.

You can also employ this neat feature to save storage space on your phone: go to WhatsApp Settings > Data usage. You can then choose whether you want any kind of media files to be autosaved on what kind of connection - mobile data/Wi-Fi/roaming.
