Honda Amaze 2018 to launch in India on May 16
Japanese automaker Honda will launch the second generation of its Honda Amaze in India tomorrow. The all-new Amaze was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and will be introduced in four variants - E, S, V and VX. Notably, the all-new Amaze will also debut a diesel CVT option for the first time in its compact sedan segment. Here's more.
The all-new Amaze draws styling cues from City and Civic
The car is built on a new platform and borrows styling cues from its elder siblings, the Honda City and the Civic. It also gets new rectangular headlamps, thick chrome slat across the fascia and new taillight styling. On the inside, the car offers City-inspired beige and black dashboard and a spacious cabin which it retains from the first generation Amaze.
Under the hood
The second generation Amaze will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which generates 89bhp of power and 110Nm torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine which makes 99bhp/200Nm. Further, the five-speed manual gearbox will be standard across all the models. Amaze will also debut a CVT option which comes mated to a 1.5-litre diesel engine and produces 79bhp power and 160Nm of peak torque.
The new 2018 Honda Amaze gets dual airbags, parking sensors
The car comes with new Digipad 2.0 infotainment system which comprises a 7-inch touchscreen and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay The new Amaze will also come with dual airbags, ABS, EBD with brake assist, ISOFIX and reverse parking sensors. Also, on the top-spec variant, Honda will offer climate control, rear AC vents as standard fitments.
Pricing and Competition
The 2018 Honda Amaze is expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model. The car will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo, and Hyundai Xcent.
