If you can't concentrate while binge-watching, Netflix has a solution
Netflix is working on a feature that could take your movie streaming experience to a whole new level or spoil it altogether. The feature in question is the ability to replay entire scenes while watching a movie or TV show on the platform. It has already been rolled out to select users as part of a testing phase. Here are the details.
How 'scene replay' would work?
Though we haven't tested the feature, a Netflix spokesperson told Los Angeles Times the capability would let users instantly re-watch certain scenes and memorable moments at the click of a button. This seems pretty similar to the rewind functionality, but instead of taking a movie 10 seconds behind, it will play the whole scene altogether - from a certain point.
This could prove handy for movie-buffs, but annoying too
The scene replay feature can be a godsend for movie-buffs or those who are particularly interested in certain kind of sequences (like that intense Prison escape scene in Daredevil). Its pop-up will only appear after certain scenes, letting users replay the whole scene from the start. But, at the same, this may also disrupt the experience of those who are not willing to rewind.
Netflix is testing the feature, but public roll-out not confirmed
Netflix has confirmed that the feature is in the testing phase and select users could see the 'scene replay' pop-up on some shows and movies. However, the company is not sure when or if this feature would be rolled-out publicly. "Right now we're looking to learn from it and may or may not roll it out more broadly in the future," the spokesperson noted.
Still, testers appear disappointed
So far, Netflix has not given detailed insight into the feedback on the scene replay feature. However, many have taken to Twitter and Reddit to report that the feature is affecting their viewing experience. One user called the feature 'garbage' while other said it devalued the film they watched on the platform.
