Motorola P40 to feature 48MP rear camera, in-screen camera design
As the successor to this year's P30, Motorola is working on P40 for a possible early 2019 launch. Interestingly, reputed tipster OnLeaks and 91Mobiles have collaborated to give us a first look at the upcoming phone. As per the renders, the Motorola P40 will feature an in-display camera design and pack a 48MP rear camera sensor. Here's our roundup.
Like others, Moto P40 will also adopt in-screen camera design
The in-screen camera design, which looks to replace the notch trend, is gaining popularity rather quickly. We have already seen Galaxy A8s, Honor View 20 (V20), and Nova 4 sport this punch-hole setup for the front camera. And joining these new smartphones, we now have Motorola P40 which will feature a selfie camera hole on the top left corner of the screen.
Motorola P40: All about the screen
The Motorola P40 will sport a 6.2-inch display with slim bezels on the sides and a sizeable chin that bear the Motorola branding. Further, with the in-screen camera design, the phone should offer an increased screen-to-body ratio and a taller aspect ratio of around 19:9. On the back, P40 will have a 3D curved panel with the fingerprint scanner concealed in the Moto logo.
Motorola P40 will come with a headphone jack, USB Type-C
As seen the high-quality renders, the Motorola P40 will come with a headphone jack positioned on the top edge of the phone. At the bottom, it will house a USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a hole for the microphone.
Motorola P40 to come with a 48MP rear camera sensor
The Android One-powered Motorola P40 will come with a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 48MP main sensor. This sensor could either be the Sony IMX586 or Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1. Both the sensors offer effective 48MP with 0.8-micron size. Moreover, with 4-in-1 pixel binning technique, these sensors provide high-quality low-light images equivalent to a 12MP 1.6-micron pixel camera and 4x digital zoom.
