Motorola teases the arrival of Moto G6 smartphones in India
At a glance
The entry-level Moto G6 Play borrows the 3D curve design from Moto X4 to set it apart from its predecessors - the Moto G5 series smartphones. The G6 Play gets a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Moreover, the phone is expected to come in Indigo and Gold color variants.
The rear Moto dimple now houses a fingerprint sensor
As standard upgrade across all Moto G6 series, Motorola has embedded the fingerprint sensor within its iconic Moto dimple on the rear panel. The center-placed Moto dimple, which sits below the camera module, is a convenient location for a fingerprint sensor. A welcome change indeed!
Under the hood
The Moto G6 play is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and others. However, it is uncertain if the Indian variant will support NFC. The phone will pack a 4,000mAh battery and run Android 8.0 Oreo with Moto Experiences which offers additional shortcut features and simple gestures.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
The Moto G6 Play sports single rear camera comprising a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. On the front, the phone offers an 8-megapixel selfie shooter which comes with a dedicated LED flash and also supports 1080p video recording.
