Moto Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Edition debuts in China
Motorola has launched yet another flagship smartphone as part of its Edge-series in China. The new handset is called Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Editon. It carries a price-tag of CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 48,000) for the sole 12GB/256GB variant but will be available for CNY 3,499 (approximately Rs. 42,000) for a limited period. The handset will go on sale in China from March 30.
Why does this story matter?
The Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Editon is the company's first-ever smartphone with the front camera tucked away underneath the display to provide an uninterrupted viewing experience. In terms of other highlights and hardware, it is identical to the regular Edge X30, which was announced in China last December with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
It sports POLED screen with 700-nits of peak brightness
The Motorola Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Editon has an all-screen look with slim bezels and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the rear, it has an oval-shaped camera unit. The phone features a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) POLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of up to 700-nits, and HDR10+ support.
The front camera is a 60MP OmniVision OV60A40 sensor
The Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Editon features a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP (f/1.9, OIS) primary sensor, a 50MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. Up front, it offers a 60MP (f/2.2) in-screen camera for taking selfies and video calling.
The device is backed by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset
The Moto Edge X30 Under-Screen Camera Edition is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on the Android 12 operating system with MYUI 3.0 baked on top and houses stereo speakers. The device is packed with a 5,000mAh battery, which supports 68W fast-charging via the Type-C port.
