Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the India Energy Week 2025 today.
During the inauguration, he announced that India is the first among the G20 nations to meet the targets set by the Paris Agreement.

PM Modi also emphasized India's remarkable economic and renewable energy milestones in the last decade.
He mentioned that India has become the world's fifth-largest economy and expanded its solar capacity by 32 times.
This exponential growth in solar energy has made India the third-largest solar power generating nation in the world, showcasing its dedication to sustainable development.

Commitment to increase renewable energy capacity
Modi reiterated India's commitment to drastically increase its renewable energy capacity. The PM set an ambitious target of adding 500GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, a target he believes is achievable considering the country's remarkable progress in the last decade.
Biofuel advancements
India's progress toward 20% ethanol mandate and biofuel alliance expansion
Modi also spoke about India's journey to meet a 20% ethanol mandate.
He noted the establishment and expansion of the global biofuel alliance under India's G20 presidency.
The alliance has now expanded to 28 nations and 12 international organizations, showcasing its successful growth.
"It has been converting waste into wealth," he said, highlighting the alliance's contribution to sustainable energy practices.
Investment opportunities
Natural gas sector's growth and investment potential
The PM spoke about the increasing reliance on natural gas in India, crediting a strong infrastructure for the same.
He said the natural gas sector offers huge investment opportunities, hinting at a bright future for the sector.
The India Energy Week 2025, which is being held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, is scheduled from February 11-14.
