Indian start-up's chip to innovate millions of video processing devices
Mindgrove Technologies, a fabless semiconductor design start-up, has received approval from India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Semiconductor Design Linked Incentive (DLI). This endorsement supports the development of its second chip, Vision SoC (System-on-Chip). The new chip is designed for high-performance edge computing and video processing applications.
Vision SoC: A versatile solution for video processing
The Vision SoC is specifically designed for devices and applications that process video information. This makes it an ideal choice for companies manufacturing and selling products like CCTV cameras, video recorders, dashcams, automotive ADAS, and smart TVs among others. Earlier this year, Mindgrove announced the successful launch of its first commercial high-performance 700MHz MCU — Secure IoT.
A catalyst for innovative start-ups
The DLI Scheme, managed by C-DAC, aims to foster innovative design start-ups. Vivek Khaneja, ED at C-DAC Noida, highlighted Mindgrove Technologies as a success story of this initiative. He stated that "with the support of the Government of India's flagship DLI Scheme and funding from the renowned venture capital firm PeakXV, Mindgrove Technologies successfully overcame initial challenges, positioning itself to compete on a global scale, providing flexible, adaptable and cost-efficient SoCs for Edge Compute, IoT and Computer Vision applications."
Mindgrove Technologies's CEO expresses gratitude for DLI support
Shashwath TR, CEO of Mindgrove Technologies, expressed his excitement over receiving DLI support from MeitY. He stated that this backing reflects the government's confidence in their shared vision as they work together to position India on the global semiconductor map. This endorsement marks a significant milestone for the start-up and underscores its potential in the semiconductor industry.
