Microsoft Office: News

Microsoft Office, otherwise simply known as Office is a software service developed by Microsoft. Various tools offered within the Office suite allow users to manage rich text documents, spreadsheets, memos, databases, and presentations, among other things. Proficiency in at least a subset of these tools is the defacto standard across the global job market in multiple industries today. Office, as we know it today, was first unveiled by Microsoft founder Bill Gates on August 1, 1988, at a trade show in Las Vegas. The first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. The portfolio of services offered within Office has now grown to include Visual Basic for scripting applications, and the Microsoft Teams video conferencing tool. The software was originally coded in C++ and supports approximately 102 languages. As of July 2012, the software had over a billion users worldwide. Office can be used on operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Apple’s macOS, and mobile operating systems Android and iOS. The tools are distributed either as trialware with options for volume licensing or in the form of Software as a Service (SaaS).
