Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 to officially launch on October 25
As the successor to last year's Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi will launch the latest Mi Mix 3 flagship on October 25. The company has announced the launch date in an official teaser posted on Weibo. Moreover, as per previous and the latest teasers, we know the Mi Mix 3 will feature a notch-less, all-screen design and a sliding camera. Here are more details.
Mi Mix 3: At a glance
Recently, Xiaomi President Lin Bin teased the Mi Mix 3, showing off an all-screen design with an ultra-slim bottom bezel. Hence, to achieve this new design, Xiaomi has removed the front camera from the bottom bezel and instead placed it in a sliding module. Moreover, the phone will feature a dedicated button to activate Xiao AI - the company's in-house AI assistant.
Mi Mix 3 to carry forward the sliding camera trend
On the Mi Mix 3, it seems the entire back panel will slide up instead of just a pop-up camera seen on Vivo Nex or motorized top-part on OPPO Find X. However, it isn't clear if the sliding mechanism will be motorized or manual. Perhaps, one could simply slide down the phone's display to reveal the front camera and possibly some face scanning gadgetry.
Mi Mix 3 will run on a Snapdragon 845 processor
While little is known about the upcoming Xiaomi flagship, rumors suggest the Mi Mix 3 will feature Samsung's AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution. Further, like other 2018 flagship smartphones, the upcoming Xiaomi flagship should be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. Moreover, the front camera is rumored to be a 20MP sensor.
Previous reports suggest Mix 3 will come in two variants
Xiaomi will offer its Mi Mix 3 flagship in two variants - a standard model and a premium variant with ceramic back, according to previous reports. However, it is not yet certain if both or just the premium variant will feature the sliding camera.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 tipped to start at $510
The 6GB RAM/64GB storage (Standard model) will be priced at $510 while the Ceramic Edition will cost $660. The 6GB RAM/128GB variant will cost $555 for Standard model and $705 for Ceramic Edition. The 8GB/128GB option will be listed at $600 and $750 for Standard and Ceramic Editions respectively. Lastly, the 8GB/256GB variant will cost $645 (Standard model) and $795 for the Ceramic Edition.
