Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will feature OPPO Find X-like camera
As a successor to its bezel-less Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi is expected to launch Mi Mix 3 in October this year. In the latest update, the company has teased its upcoming flagship, revealing a notch-less, all-screen design and a sliding camera, similar to the one seen on OPPO Find X. Here's our roundup.
Mi Mix 3: At a glance
The official teaser, posted on Weibo by Xiaomi President Lin Bin, shows an all-screen design with an ultra-slim bottom bezel. And to achieve this new design, Xiaomi has removed the front camera from the bottom bezel, a position the company has stuck with since 2016's Mi Mix. So where's the front camera now? Yes, it's packed in the slider.
Mi Mix 3 to carry forward the sliding camera trend
On the Mi Mix 3, it seems the entire back panel will slide up instead of just a pop-up camera seen on Vivo Nex or motorized top-part on OPPO Find X. However, it isn't clear if the sliding mechanism will be motorized or manual. Perhaps, one could simply slide down the phone's display to reveal the front camera and possibly some face scanning gadgetry.
Mi Mix 3 will run on a Snapdragon 845 processor
While very little is known from this teaser image, rumors suggest the Mi Mix 3 will feature Samsung's AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution. Further, like other 2018 flagship smartphones, the upcoming Xiaomi flagship would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. Moreover, the front camera is rumored to be a 20MP sensor.
Previous reports suggest Mix 3 will come in two variants
Xiaomi will offer its Mi Mix 3 flagship in two variants - a standard model and a premium variant with ceramic back, according to previous reports. However, it is not yet certain if both or just the premium variant will feature the sliding camera.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 tipped to start at $510
The 6GB RAM/64GB storage (Standard model) will be priced at $510 (Rs. 35,100) while the Ceramic Edition will cost $660 (Rs. 45,400). The 6GB RAM/128GB variant will cost $555 (Rs. 38,200) for Standard model and $705 for Ceramic Edition (Rs. 48,500). The 8GB/128GB option will be listed at $600 (Rs. 41,300) and $750 (Rs. 51,600) for Standard and Ceramic Editions respectively. Lastly, the 8GB/256GB variant will cost $645 (Rs. 44,400) for the Standard model and $795 (Rs. 54,700) for the Ceramic Edition.
