Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite Android One smartphones launched
Xiaomi has launched its latest Android One smartphones, the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, at a global event in Spain. Both the mid-spec smartphones run stock Android Oreo and sport AI-powered cameras. Notably, Xiaomi has said it will introduce Mi A2 in India but won't bring Mi A2 Lite in the country. Here's all about the phones.
Mi A2: At a glance
The Xiaomi Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor with AI engine, paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. The phone supports dual SIM (Nano) cards, runs stock Android Oreo 8.1 and packs 3,010mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0.

The Mi A2 gets a dual camera setup with 12MP+20MP Sony sensors and an aperture of f/1.75, phase-detection autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, the phone gets a 20-MP Sony IMX376 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, fixed focal length, and LED flash. Both the front and rear cameras support several AI-powered features such as Scene Recognition, Portrait Mode, Background Bokeh, and Smart Beauty 4.0.
Connectivity options and sensors onboard Mi A2
In terms of connectivity, the phone gets 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.0 and IR emitter. Sensors onboard the Mi A2 include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, E-compass, Hall sensor and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
What's Mi A2 Lite offering?
The Mi A2 Lite gets a 5.84-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, along with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB storage. It supports dual-SIM (Nano) cards, runs stock Android Oreo and packs 4,000mAh battery.
Mi A2 Lite: Camera specs, Connectivity options and onboard sensors
Mi A2 Lite sports a dual rear-camera setup comprising 12MP primary sensor with 1.25-micron pixels and PDAF, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there's a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Notably, both cameras get AI Portrait Mode and AI Scene Recognition features. The phone comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB, along with all the standard sensors.
Global prices of Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite
The Mi A2 starts at EUR 249 (Rs. 20,100) for the 4GB RAM/32GB storage variant. The variant with 4GB RAM/64GB storage is priced at EUR 279 (Rs. 22,500) while the top-end 6GB RAM/128GB model costs EUR 349 (Rs. 28,100). The Mi A2 Lite costs EUR 179 (Rs. 14,400) for the 3GB RAM/32GB variant and EUR 229 (Rs. 18,400) for the 4GB RAM/64GB model. Both the phones come in Black, Blue, and Gold color options.
