How to add AI backgrounds on Facebook calls
Meta has unveiled a slew of new features for its Facebook Messenger app, aimed at improving the user experience during audio and video calls. The update was announced via the official Meta blog. One of the key additions is the ability to use artificial intelligence (AI)-generated backgrounds during video calls. You can access this feature by tapping on the effects icon in the sidebar and selecting "Backgrounds."
Messenger's new features aim to improve call quality
The latest update from Meta also brings high-definition (HD) video, background noise suppression, and voice isolation capabilities. These improvements are aimed "to help you make clearer, higher-quality calls directly from Messenger," the blog post said. The HD video will now be the default mode for Messenger calls over Wi-Fi connections. Users can also enable HD calls on cellular data by adjusting their settings to allow "Mobile data for HD video."
Messenger now supports voice, video messages
Along with call quality improvements, the new update also lets users leave voice and video messages for their contacts. The feature can be accessed by tapping the "record message" button on the lower right side of the screen. If a call goes unanswered, you can leave an audio or video message instead of just text or emojis. This will make Messenger more versatile. Meta has also expanded its AI image generation feature to Messenger as well as Facebook and Instagram.
