Mercedes-Benz's new car becomes India's first BS-VI vehicle
Mercedes-Benz has launched the new S-Class 350d car at a starting price of Rs 1.33 crore. It is the first ever made-in-India diesel car that is compliant with the BS-VI emission standards. BS-VI, which will come into full force by April 2020, helps mitigate pollution by regulating the output of air pollutants from motor vehicles.
S-Class 350d has six-cylinder diesel engine running on BS-IV fuel
The S-Class 350d is powered by a new in-line six-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 286 hp and 600 Nm of peak torque. To be compliant with the BS-VI emission standards, the engine will run on BS-IV fuel, which is high in sulfur content.
The high-gloss car gets new LED headlamps, tail lights
On the exterior, the new S-Class 350d features a radiator trim with three twin louvers, a new lower bumper with large and sporty air intakes, and a rear bumper with tailpipe trim elements for all engine variants. It has new multi-beam LED headlamps and LED tail lights with crystal-look tail lamps. The luxury car comes in high-gloss black.
The S-Class 350d features a premium luxury cabin
As far as the interior is concerned, the S-Class 350d features an advanced panoramic sliding sunroof with an obstruction sensor, a new multi-function steering wheel with ergonomic touch control buttons, and electrically operated roller sunblinds for the rear glass and side windows. The premium cabin gets a new dashboard with a "waterfall center console" that has an advanced infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The car features radar-based technology to assist drivers
In terms of safety features, the S-Class 350d uses sophisticated radar-based technology to bring to users an active distance assist, an active steering assist, an active braking assist, and finally, an active blind spot assist.
