Xiaomi to launch Mi Max 2 tablet in China
Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi Max 2 phablet, the successor to the Mi Max phablet at an event in China today. The company stated that the new model will now have an enhanced one-handed use feature for better hand-feel. They have not officially disclosed the price and availability details yet. Several features that were announced corroborate speculation on tech forums prior to the launch.
Xiaomi makes one phone every second
According to Manu Jain, the India head of Xiaomi, their manufacturing plant in India makes one phone every second sans lunch breaks and holidays, and 95% of Xiaomi smartphones, barring Mi5, are now getting assembled in India.
Physical specifications
The Mi Max 2 comes with a massive 6.44 inch display screen. The company said it has incorporated enhanced rounded edges for better grip and hand feel. It sports an all metallic body like its predecessor the Mi Max. It also has a symmetrical design with the speaker grill and charging port at the bottom panel and discreet antenna lines like the iPhone7.
Techical specifications
It is speculated that the Mi Max 2 will have 2 variants powered by Snapdragon 626 processor with 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB RAM. It is said to come with 64GB and 128GB storage options. It also sports a 12MP rear camera along with a 5MP front camera. It packs a 5300 mAh battery with a 2-day battery life.
What are possible pricing options?
While pricing and availability have not been announced yet, it is speculated that it would cost 1,499 Yuan (~Rs. 14000) for the Snapdragon 626 version and 1699 Yuan (~Rs. 16000) for the Snapdragon 660 version.
