Auto Expo'18: Maruti Suzuki launches third-generation Swift for Rs. 5lakh
Maruti Suzuki has launched its much-awaited third-generation Swift car at Auto Expo 2018. The 2018 Swift will start selling at a price of Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and go up to Rs. 7.96 lakh for its top-range variants. The new hatchback will start getting delivered later in the month, with the car already registering a waiting period of six to eight weeks.
The new Swift comes in diesel automatic option, six colors
Available in both petrol and diesel engine options with manual and automatic transmission variants, the new car claims to have better features, performance and fuel efficiency. It carries the tried and tested power engines: the 1.2-litre K-Series for the petrol variant and the 1.3-litre DDiS for the diesel variant. About Rs. 20,000 more expensive than its predecessor, the car is available in six colors.
2018 Swift gets lighter, sportier
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift is lighter and more modern in look and feel. The new chassis has provided the hatchback with a stronger and more rigid structure. The new design features bug-like headlamps with projector lens, LED DRLs on top trims, and LED taillights. Further, the car also gets diamond cut alloy wheels to complete the look.
From inside, the car gets more spacious, upmarket
Inside, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift gets a more upmarket cabin. It features a premium-looking dual-pod instrument cluster, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, and the familiar SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The car now also has more legroom in the rear seat and a decently increased boot capacity.
Swift is among the top five selling cars in India
First launched in 2005, Swift has reportedly sold 18 lakh units till date. According to reports, it is one of the top five selling cars in the country and leads the hatchback segment with a whopping 35% market share.
