Get Alexa to say whatever you want with Alexa Blueprints
Amazon has launched its Alexa Skills Blueprints program that allows users to create their own customized Alexa commands and responses based on pre-defined templates. Earlier, users needed to know how to code to write a new Alexa Skill, but with Blueprints, they can just fill out easy-to-use templates to get going. Customized Alexa responses can include trivia games, bedtime stories, and personalized Q&A.
To build your custom Alexa response, select a template
Log in with your Amazon account and select a new Alexa Skill from a list of possible options. Amazon currently offers over 20 templates including family jokes, trivia, facts, quizzes, storytelling, games, and custom responses to your questions. To build a new Skill, just pick a template and fill in the missing information to personalize them.
Interact with Alexa in a new way
"Alexa Skill Blueprints is an entirely new way for you to teach Alexa personalized skills. You don't need experience building skills or coding to get started. My family created our own jokes skill in a matter of minutes," Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa, said.
Your Alexa Skills will only work on your devices
Once you build, name, and publish a new Skill, it will become available on all Alexa-enabled devices that are connected to your Amazon account. With Alexa Blueprints, you can use the digital assistant to tell a dad joke that is common in your family, study with flash card quizzes, design your own trivia games, and set up instructions for houseguests (aimed at Airbnb owners).
You can enable, disable, or delete your Skills
You can view all you custom Skills on the "Skills You've Made" webpage on the Alexa Blueprints website. You can modify, enable, disable, or delete your Skills as well. The functionality is currently only available in the US.
