16-inch MacBook Pro's new details leaked via macOS Catalina
Thanks to several leaks and reports, we know Apple is working to revamp its MacBook Pro line-up with a 16-inch model that will feature a new design, a sharper display, an improved keyboard, and the latest Intel chipset. And now, a new image of the upcoming MacBook Pro with a standalone Touch ID sensor has been leaked via macOS 10.15.1 Catalina. Here's more.
Leak shows new position of Touch ID
The image discovered in macOS Catalina reveals that the 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature a Touch ID power button, that's different from the Touch Bar. It won't be an extension of it as is the case with the current-generation of MacBook Pro models. The keyboard is also likely to see a change with the butterfly keyboard mechanism making way for a new scissor-switch mechanism.
The upcoming MacBook Pro could feature a QHD+ LCD display
According to previous reports, the upcoming MacBook Pro will feature an "ultra-thin bezel design" wherein we expect Apple to trim the screen borders and offer a 16-inch screen on 15-inch form factor. Further, the new MacBook is likely to sport an LCD screen with a 3072x1920 resolution. At this size, the new model will offer the biggest and sharpest screen ever on a MacBook.
New processors and faster charging support
Rumors also claim that the 16-inch MacBook Pro will ship with Intel's latest Coffee Lake or 10th-generation Ice Lake processors, although the latter is yet to be announced for MacBook Pros. Further, a new leak suggests this premium MacBook will offer a 96W USB-C charger. In comparison, the 13-inch MacBook Pro has a 61W adapter, while the 15-inch model comes with an 87W adapter.
When will this MacBook launch?
Earlier, it was claimed that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro was supposed to be launched by October end. Clearly, that didn't happen! Now, it is reported that the premium laptop is in production and we shall hear more about it in the coming weeks.
