Google introduced its latest mobile operating system, Android 8 Oreo, last year bringing several features like enhanced security, picture-in-picture mode, color icons, pinned shortcuts/widgets, notification dots, etc. But the Nougat-successor currently has 1.1% adoption rate as smartphone manufacturers are still slowly rolling out the Oreo update. Which Samsung devices have received Oreo update so far?
Samsung has rolled out the Android Oreo update along with the latest security patch only on two of its devices -last year's Galaxy S8 and S8+- so far. The high-end Galaxy S8 duo comes with bezel-less Infinity display, 4GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage; they are dust and water resistant too. Also, the company's latest flagships -Galaxy S9 and S9+- run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
What about Google's own Pixel smartphones?
All Pixel devices, both first and second-generation ones, launched by Google offer the latest Android OS, Oreo. Google's current flagship Pixel 2 and its larger variant, the near bezel-less Pixel 2 XL were launched with Oreo out-of-the-box. They both have Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage. The company's 2016 flagship device Pixel and the bigger Pixel XL also received Android Oreo.
Almost all Nokia smartphones receive Android 8.0 Oreo update
HMD Global has rolled out Android Oreo for many its Nokia smartphones. The flagship Nokia 8 received the update in December last year; the device has 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 processor, and dual rear camera setup. Nokia 5 got the Oreo update earlier this year while Nokia 6 received it recently. HMD Global already started Oreo beta testing for the budget-friendly Nokia 3, too.
Devices from HTC, Moto, and Infinix that have Oreo
Taiwanese device maker HTC has started rolling out Android Oreo update on 2016's HTC U10 along with last year's "squeezable" HTC U11 with "Edge Sense" technology, 8GB RAM, and Snapdragon 835 SoC. Coming to devices from Lenovo-owned Motorola, Moto X4 launched last year is now running Oreo. Meanwhile, Chinese smartphone company Infinix Mobile has released the Oreo update for its budget-friendly Note 4.
OnePlus smartphones have started getting Oreo update, too
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus's flagship device, OnePlus 5T, started receiving the big Oreo update only last month. The almost bezel-less phone comes with Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB onboard-storage, and dual rear camera. Its predecessor, OnePlus 5, began receiving the latest OS update earlier in January. However, OnePlus first started rolling out Oreo on 2016 devices, OnePlus 3 and 3T, in Nov'17.
These three Sony Xperia devices are running Oreo
Japanese tech-giant Sony recently brought Android Oreo to last year's Xperia XZs and also the Xperia R1 budget smartphone. Sony's Xperia XZ1 is the first non-Google device to run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. It's powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC and 4GB RAM. It comes with 3D scanning mode that captures high-resolution 3D images of objects. 2016's Xperia XZ also received Oreo update last year.
Honor smartphones that currently offer Android Oreo
Chinese company Huawei's smartphone sub-brand Honor launched its bezel-less flagship V10 smartphone last year with Android Oreo out-of-the-box - the first from Honor. It's powered by Kirin 970 processor paired with 6GB RAM. Also, Honor's first 2018 smartphone -the budget-friendly, bezel-less Honor 9 Lite- also runs Oreo out-of-the-box. The mid-range Honor 8 Pro launched last year has started receiving Oreo update with EMUI 8.0.
Xioami's Android One smartphone and Nexus 5X, 6P devices
Xiaomi's first Android One device, Mi A1, launched last year recently received the Android 8.0 Oreo update. It was co-developed by Google. LG Google Nexus 5X, released in 2015, was one of the oldest devices to receive Android Oreo last year. Huawei Google Nexus 6P, launched in 2015, is also among the oldest devices to receive the latest Android operating system in 2017.
