How does LG V30 compare to Galaxy Note8, Pixel2 XL?
The LG V30, which made its global debut in Sep'17, is yet to be launched in India but reports claim that it would hit the Indian stores in early December. LG V30 would compete head-to-head with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Google Pixel 2 XL and offer similar specs and features at a lesser price. How does LG V30 stack up against its competitors?
What does the LG V30 offer?
LG V30, the lightest 6-inch smartphone so far, sports an OLED FullVision display. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB), and a massive 3300mAh battery. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with LG UX 6.0+ and would also receive the Android 8 Oreo update. It has IP68 water-and-dust resistant certification and military-level MIL-STD-810G certification.
Device has a primary dual camera setup
The LG V30 sports a dual 16MP+13MP (wide angle) camera setup at the rear. It houses a mere 5MP camera on the front that can also capture wide angle photos. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and also supports wireless charging. LG V30 comes in Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet color options.
LG V30 display comparison with competitors
LG V30 has 6-inch P-OLED FullVision display with an 18:9 aspect ratio while Pixel 2 XL also sports a 6-inch QHD+ P-OLED bezel-less display with the same aspect ratio. Note 8 has a 6.3-inch Super QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an elongated 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Pixel 2 XL users are facing several display-related issues, but Note 8 has the best smartphone display ever.
Battery comparison
LG V30 comes with a 3,300mAh battery while Samsung Galaxy Note 8 also houses a 3,300mAh battery. However, the Google Pixel 2 XL has a bigger 3,520mAh battery compared to the other two smartphones. All three are non-removable batteries.
What about the cameras on the phones?
Pixel 2 XL comes with a 12.2MP primary camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. Google claims it is the "best camera" on an Android smartphone. Note 8 has twin 12MP sensors on the back and an 8MP front camera. LG V30, with 16MP+13MP rear and 5MP front cameras, performs better in low-light conditions and offers much-advanced video modes compared to the other two.
LG V30: Best ever audio technology on any phone
Music lovers have more reasons to buy LG V30 as it has the 3.5mm audio jack. Also, LG, for its latest Android flagship, has crafted the best headphone audio on any smartphone yet. It has an advanced 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad-DAC audio system; the high-quality built-in DAC (digital-to-analog converter) helps V30 deliver the best sound quality through the audio port compared to other phones.
Headphone jack and other connectivity features
Like mentioned before, LG has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack on the LG V30 just like Samsung did for the Galaxy Note 8. However, Google got rid of the audio port on its Pixel 2 XL device. While LG V30 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 have dual SIM (Nano) connectivity, the Pixel 2 XL has single SIM (Nano) support.
What about the price?
LG V30 is rumored to arrive in India with a price-tag of less than Rs. 48,000. Pixel 2 XL's 64GB variant comes for Rs. 73,000, and 128GB model for Rs. 82,000. Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs. 67,900. If the rumors are true, then V30 is going to offer top specs at a much lower price than Pixel 2 XL and Note 8.
