LG could unveil rollable TV, foldable phone at CES 2019
At the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, aka CES 2019, LG might bring two products leveraging its display technology - a rollable OLED TV and a foldable smartphone. Though we've already seen a few rollable TV prototypes from the company, this time we might actually witness an improved, market-ready version at the event. Here are more details.
What do the internal documents reveal?
Engadget has seen internal documents that suggest LG's rollable OLED could be one of the products taking the center stage and leading the company's presentation at the trade show. These documents highlighted the topics intended for the presentation, which, considering the fact that LG has already showcased rollable TV prototypes, indicates we might see a consumer-ready product on this occasion.
How the rollable TV works?
As of now, there's no word on what the rollable TV in question will have on offer, but from what we've seen in the past, it's likely to be an improved version of the previous prototype or a different screen size. The TV showcased at CES 2018 was a 4K 65-inch model that rolled into a bottom-placed housing at the push of a button.
The case of LG's foldable phone
Previously, LG's CEO had said the company is not in a hurry to be the first one to bring a foldable phone and is working with partners to avoid issues with the device. But, according to the documents seen by Engadget, LG's foldable phone could also be showcased at CES 2019. Even tipster Evan Blass suggested the same a few days ago.
