Lenovo Z6 Pro could be first-ever smartphone with 100MP camera
From increasing lenses on phones to higher megapixel count on sensors, the camera wars are indeed a real thing in today's smartphone space. And in the race to outshine the competition, Lenovo's Z6 Pro might arrive as the world's first smartphone to offer 100MP images and videos - according to a new teaser shared by the company's VP, Chang Cheng. Here's everything to know.
What we know from the official teaser
Lenovo VP Chang Cheng has teased a "Hyper Video" feature on its upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro. While the teaser doesn't explain what "Hyper Video" entails, it does carry a hashtag that translates to "billion level pixels" which means 100 million pixels or 100 megapixels. Separately, Cheng also shared a high-resolution video that shows off the phone's "super macro" capabilities.
But, how will it work
Going by some reports, a "billion level pixels" suggest Lenovo Z6 Pro might arrive as the first smartphone to feature a 100MP camera. Incidentally, the teaser also shows the back side of a phone (presumably, Z6 Pro) with a single sensor. That said, another possibility is that Lenovo might use multiple sensors and aggregate their capabilities to offer 100MP images and/or videos.
And, what about its specifications
Lenovo Z6 Pro will arrive as the successor to the Z5 Pro with flagship internals. Reportedly, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The phone is also said to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor along with support for wireless charging as well as 5G network.
Lenovo Z6 Pro is slated to launch in June 2019
At MWC 2019, Lenono Phone VP Edward Chang had announced that its upcoming smartphone, Z6 Pro, would support 5G networks and feature a new 'HyperVision' camera capable of recording 'Hyper Videos'. Further, he also confirmed that Z6 Pro will launch around June this year.
