Leaks confirm Samsung's cutting edge A8 series of phones
While Samsung's two upcoming smartphones - the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy X - are well known among tech enthusiasts, new leaks have confirmed that Samsung is releasing a third phone - the A8 series. SamMobile has attained information which confirms the A8 and the A8 Plus, both of which are set to send shockwaves through the smartphone industry in 2018.
The A8 series design is inspired by the Galaxy S8
Both the A8 and the A8 Plus will combine the cutting edge design of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, despite being midrange smartphones. The A8 and A8 Plus will sport infinity displays while keeping top and bottom bezels at a minimum. However, both phones will have side bezels - something which might prove to be popular owing to higher durability.
What sets the A8 series phones apart
The Galaxy A8 and the A8+ are the first A series phones to support the Gear VR headset. Fingerprint sensors for both the phones have been moved to the back for a more ergonomic placement. The Infinity Displays feature an immersive 18.5:9 aspect ratio with a 1080x2220 pixel resolution. The cameras feature Live Focus, which lets users adjust depth-of-field and blur effects.
The A8 features premium specs at midrange prices
Both the A8 and A8+ will offer flagship-like features. Sporting a metal and glass build for a premium feel, the A8 will have a 5.6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. The phone will feature 4GBs of RAM, a 16MP plus 8MP dual front cam, and dual 16MP rear cams. It'll run on Android 7.1.1, and will receive both Android Oreo and Android P updates.
What we know about the A8+
The A8+ will come in 4GB/6GB RAM variants, although the 6GB variant is likely to be limited to China and a few other Asian markets. Sporting a 6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, the phone will have cameras identical to the A8. It'll feature a 3,500mAh battery, as opposed to the A8's 3,000mAh.
