Ola integrates Krutrim AI into its EVs, cab services
Ola has announced the integration of Krutrim AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, into its electric scooters and cab services. The announcement was made by Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola and Krutrim, at Ola's 'Sankalp 2024' event in Bengaluru today. This collaboration also includes the implementation of Krutrim's AI customer care tool within Ola's operations.
Krutrim's journey to becoming India's first AI unicorn
Krutrim was initially introduced in December 2023 and has since achieved significant milestones. Earlier this year, it became India's first AI unicorn after securing $50 million in funding at a valuation of $1 billion. This investment round was led by Matrix Partners India, a firm known for its early support of Aggarwal's other ventures including Ola Cabs and Ola Electric, which recently got listed on the stock market.
Plans for data center facility
During the 'Sankalp 2024' event, Aggarwal also revealed plans to establish a 1GW data center facility by 2028. He stated, "Right now our capacity is 20MW."
Ola Cabs rebranding and revived ride-sharing service
In a strategic move, Ola has rebranded its ride-hailing service from Ola Cabs to Ola Consumer. This change is aimed at encompassing a broader range of consumer services under the company's umbrella. Additionally, the firm announced the revival of Ola Share, a ride-sharing feature that was discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic. The service has been relaunched in Bengaluru with plans for expansion into other cities soon.
Automated dark stores and loyalty program
At the 'Sankalp 2024' event, Ola also unveiled its automated dark stores - small retail warehouses designed for quick deliveries with minimal human intervention. Aggarwal confirmed that these facilities will be accessible to all Kiranas and brands in the ONDC network, not just Ola. Additionally, the company introduced Ola Coin, a customer loyalty program aimed at rewarding its user base.
