#BringOnTheFuture: Kaspersky's 2020 security solutions launched in India
Leading cybersecurity organization Kaspersky Labs has updated its product portfolio in the Indian market. The company, which has been offering anti-virus programs since 1997, has launched the 'Kaspersky 2020' range of security solutions with new features and enhanced performance. It has also revamped its brand identity with a new mascot 'Midori Kuma'. Here's all you need to know about it.
First, a quick recap of Kaspersky's security solutions
For years, Kaspersky has been offering three core products - Antivirus, Internet Security, and Total Security. The first is solely related to computer security (targeting malicious programs, viruses), the second is about both computer and internet security (defenses against malicious emails, phishing et al), while the third is a complete package with additional features for both online and offline security.
Now, all three solutions are being updated
With Kaspersky 2020, the company has continued the tradition of launching an annual feature upgrade for all three products to strengthen users' defenses against the rapidly-changing threat landscape. It is building on the existing capabilities of the products and bolstering their protection technique to fight against dangerous network exploits, like EternalBlue, exploits of vulnerabilities in popular programs like Microsoft Office, among other things.
What else is new in the latest version?
Apart from enhanced online security, the new Kaspersky range has been designed to be much faster than the previous versions. Essentially, the company says, it is 15% lighter than previous iterations of the software and is 50% faster to install/update than before. So, even with the anti-virus running in the background, your computer's resources won't be hogged and performance will stay on the mark.
Plus, two more features for enhanced personal safety
The latest Kaspersky Total Security also comes with two essential new features - Password Manager and Safe Kids. The former offers an encrypted vault to save passwords and sync them across desktop/mobile sites, while the latter brings a way for parents to set screen time for kids, block their access to adult sites as well as check on their real-time location and Facebook activity.
Supertron Electronics to handle distribution of Kaspersky 2020
The distribution side of Kaspersky 2020 will be handled by Supertron Electronics, a leading IT & Telecom distribution & services intermediary in India. The company, which is eyeing Rs. 4,000 crore in revenue this fiscal, hopes to take the new security products deeper into several Indian cities as well as create awareness about the need for online security.
What Shivshankar Kharade, Kaspersky South Asia, said during the launch
"Kaspersky has always believed in leading with innovations and using advanced technology to keep fighting against advanced threats... Our association with Supertron Electronics for India looks very promising as we expect to grow and reach a greater number of consumers from the developing [Indian] cities."
