WhatsApp now available on JioPhone: Here's how to download
In its 41st AGM, Reliance had promised that all JioPhone users would get access to WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and Google Maps by August 15. Jio has lived up to its promise, with Facebook, YouTube and Maps already available via the Jio App Store. WhatsApp, however, is being rolled out in phases, and not every user will get it on day 1. But, if you do, here's how you can download it.
Here's how to download and set-up WhatsApp on your JioPhone
Simply open the KaiOS store on your JioPhone and search for WhatsApp. If available, you'll be able to download the app on your phone. Once downloaded, tap on 'Open' to set up your account. You need to enter your phone number to receive an OTP. Once you receive the OTP, simply enter it to register your number and complete the setup process.
YouTube, Facebook and Google Maps already available on JioPhone
Recently, YouTube was made available for KaiOS while Facebook and Google Maps have been available for some time now. In February, Facebook had launched a stripped-down, dedicated app for JioPhone users while Google Maps was rolled out in July. Notably, the user experience for these apps will be similar to what you have seen on Android and iOS, but they come with certain limitations.
JioPhone's official JioStore comes with a variety of apps
The JioPhone comes preloaded with the Jio suite of apps that include JioMusic, JioCinema, HelloJio, JioGames, JioTv, JioShare, JioVideocall, and JioXpress (for news). The official store on the JioPhone is JioStore. There is also a browser app on the JioPhone. Reliance Jio has also rolled out its own MyJio app on the platform for easy recharging from Jio's telecom network.
