With Reliance's JioPhone being quite the success, Mukesh Ambani, at Reliance's 41st annual general meeting (AGM) announced a successor. Although dubbed the JioPhone 2 quite unimaginatively, Reliance's new smart phone doesn't lack imagination when it comes to features and accessibility. "We have more than 25 million JioPhone users in India. We are now taking the JioPhone to the next level, with added capabilities and functionalities," said Mukesh Ambani, while announcing the JioPhone 2.
What we know about the JioPhone 2's specs
The JioPhone 2, which sports a QWERTY keypad and a dedicated voice command button, will have a 2.40-inch display. The KAI OS-based dual-SIM phone will come with a 2MP rear camera, a VGA front camera, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB internal storage, expandable to 128GB. It'll support LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and FM, and app services such as YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook.
Rs. 2,999 JioPhone 2 available for Rs. 501 on offer
Bookings for the JioPhone 2 will start on Independence Day this year, and the phone will be available at an introductory price of Rs. 2,999. Reliance Jio also announced a promotional Monsoon offer for its users, wherein interested customers will be able to avail the JioPhone 2 for just Rs. 501, upon exchanging their older JioPhone. This offer will start from July 21.
