Reliance Jio users to receive 100GB free cloud storage
Reliance Industries' Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, has announced a generous gift for Jio users this Diwali. At the company's 47th annual general meeting (AGM), Ambani revealed that starting from the festival of lights, all Jio users will be eligible for up to 100GB of free cloud storage. This move is part of the newly introduced 'Jio AI-Cloud Welcome' offer and aims to make data storage more accessible and affordable.
Competing with Google and Apple's storage plans
Ambani highlighted that this free storage offer is designed to securely store and access photos, videos, documents, and other digital content. He also assured that for those requiring additional storage, Jio will provide the most cost-effective prices in the market. This move positions Jio competitively against tech giants like Google and Apple, who charge ₹130/month for 100GB and ₹75-₹219/month for 50-200GB of cloud storage respectively.
Reliance Industries integrates advanced AI technology
Reliance Industries has integrated the latest generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology into its operations. This integration aims to deliver "smarter, more responsive services" to both internal users and customers. The company is also developing a comprehensive suite of tools and platforms named 'Jio Brain,' that will span the entire AI lifecycle, accelerating AI adoption across Jio for faster decisions and better customer understanding.
Plans to establish nationwide AI infrastructure
Reliance is planning to establish a nationwide AI infrastructure, in line with its vision of "AI Everywhere For Everyone." The company intends to set up gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar that will be powered entirely by Reliance's green energy. This plan underscores the company's commitment toward sustainability and a greener future.
Jio introduces voice assistant and AI service
On a related note, Jio has introduced its voice assistant "Hello Jio" to its newly launched operating system, Jio TvOS. This feature allows TV users to control their set-top boxes using voice commands. Additionally, the company has rolled out a new service called Jio 'Phone Call AI,' that enables users to record and store any call in Jio Cloud and automatically transcribe it for easy access and sharing.
